The prosthesis is fixed, meaning it does not come off when eating, talking, sneezing, coughing, swallowing or laughing. All-on-4 implants consist of two straight implants at the front and two implants bent up to 45 degrees at the back. These two oblique implants have more contact with the jawbone and provide support to the implant and teeth, even if the bone is not particularly strong. Tilting the implants also keeps vital anatomical structures secure and distributes the force of the implants more evenly, allowing for a final denture of up to 12 teeth.
The All-on-4 system generally does not require any bone grafting and recovery time is significantly reduced compared to the traditional method of extraction, implantation and prosthesis, which can take up to 1 year. For those who meet the criteria, the overall treatment time is significantly reduced as a fixed (non-removable) acrylic temporary bridge is fitted on the day of surgery. Otherwise, patients will need to wear a temporary prosthesis while the implants heal.
